Section 6.02 of the City Charter establishing the form of recall, initiative and referendum petition was approved at the November 7, 2023 Special Election as part of the fifty-one (51) amendments to the City Charter.
Section 6.02(a) states "Any registered voter of the City may commence recall, initiative, or referendum proceedings by filing with the City Secretary a petition as required by this Article, provided that the registered voter must file with the City Secretary a Notice of Intent to circulate a petition before circulating the petition. For a recall petition only, The Notice of Intent to circulate a petition required by this subsection must be filed at least six months after the election of the person sought to be removed and must be filed prior to the date of signing of each signature contained in the petition."
Section 6.02(e) states "City Council shall adopt a form of a petition for recall, initiative and referendum petitions by Ordinance."
At the February 4, 2025 City Council Regular meeting, City Council approved Ordinance No. 2025-06 adopting the below official forms for recall, initiative and referendum petitions, as well as a Notice of Intent.
