About the Rosenberg Economic Development Department

The focus of the Economic Development Department is to assist businesses and industry in locating and expanding to Rosenberg.  The Department collaborates with local businesses, government officials, business-based non-profit agencies and education institutions to create and maintain an effective business environment based on the needs and demands of the particular industries and entities involved and those they serve.  The Department provides staff support to the Rosenberg Development Corporation.

Our Services

  • Business Recruitment.  Market opportunities and proactively seek new and expanding business interests and respond to prospects who are actively researching the local area.
  • Business Retention and Expansion.  Utilize a community-wide business retention survey and business assistance programs to ensure the Rosenberg's existing employers have what they need to grow and prosper.
  • Workforce Readiness.  Identification of employer workforce needs, skill sets, and customized training and coordination of workforce education programs to support new and expanding businesses.
  • Local Liaison.  Maintain professional relationships with all levels of government and provide assistance with land use regulations, permitting or other special needs.
  • Community Development. Support projects dedicated to beautification and improvements to commercial and recreational areas that affect the quality of life in Rosenberg.
  • Available Properties. Maintain database of available properties for lease and sale and promote use; continually assess available land for potential commercial development.
  • Infrastructure Projects.  Provide support for special projects including transportation (rail and road), utilities, and encourage city infrastructure planning to address readiness of potential commercial development areas.
  • Incentives. Assess and develop a fair and equitable program of Incentives that balance the needs of the community with the competitive nature of business attraction. Research, recommend and pursue local, state, and federal programs for Tax Abatements, Enterprise Zones, TIRZ districts and grant opportunities, and analyze development benefits for the community.
  • Research. Maintain a comprehensive business database, market analysis, labor statistics, and current information on taxation, utility costs, property values, demographics, wages, and workforce data.
